Supporting the Makers Behind the Work

At Mélange Paints, we believe beautiful work begins long before the paintbrush touches the surface.

It begins in home workshops, converted garages, spare bedrooms, garden sheds, studios, and creative spaces of every kind. It begins with artists, makers, collectors, and craftspeople who continue showing up to create, experiment, restore, and transform.

The Patronage was created to help support creative work.

Each year, one recipient from within the Cabinet of Curiosities community will be awarded a $500 Studio Transformation Grant to invest in the creative space that supports their work.

Unlike a traditional prize, The Patronage is intended to provide meaningful support for the creative process itself.

Recipients may use the grant in whatever way best serves their studio and creative practice, including:

  • Studio organization and shelving

  • Workbenches and storage solutions

  • Lighting improvements

  • Photography or content creation equipment

  • Tools and workshop accessories

  • Art and painting supplies

  • Technology or software used in their creative work

  • Comfort, accessibility, or efficiency improvements

  • Any other investment that helps support their craft

There is no required project and no prescribed use for the funds. Every creative space is different, and every maker knows best what would have the greatest impact on their work.

Following the transformation, the recipient will be invited to share their journey with the Mélange Paints community. Through photographs, stories, and behind-the-scenes glimpses, we'll showcase how the grant was used and celebrate the improvements made to their creative space.

The recipient may be featured across Mélange Paints social media channels, within the Cabinet of Curiosities, and on the Mélange Paints website as part of our ongoing effort to spotlight the remarkable artists, makers, and craftspeople who inspire our community.

Because sometimes the most meaningful transformation isn't the piece being painted.

It's the space where the work begins.
