The Story Behind Fieldnotes

Every collection needs an anchor.

When we began curating the inaugural Mélange Paints Metamorphosis palette, there was one color that became the center of gravity around which everything else revolved. That color became Fieldnotes.

Inspired by weathered journals, pressed botanicals, and the observations of naturalists who documented the world one page at a time, Fieldnotes is neither a true green nor a conventional neutral. Instead, it occupies the intriguing space between the two.

Its muted olive undertones allow it to feel grounded and organic without becoming overtly green. In changing light, Fieldnotes reveals different facets of its character. Sometimes earthy, sometimes moody, sometimes surprisingly sophisticated.

It pairs effortlessly with warm woods, aged brass, natural linen, and stone. It can anchor a room while remaining remarkably versatile.
