Our Clear Bonding Primer is a fast-dry, multi-surface transparent primer designed to prepare surfaces without dramatically changing their existing color. Ideal for projects where you need added adhesion, surface sealing, or a more stable foundation before painting with Mélange.
This water-based primer is especially useful for same-color repaints, porous surfaces, chalky finishes, raw or worn areas, and tricky substrates that need a little extra grip before paint. It dries to a transparent flat finish, helping preserve the character of the surface underneath while creating a more reliable base for your finish coat.
Clear Bonding Primer may be used over unpainted surfaces, water-based paints, and oil-based paints. It is suitable for sealing wood and porous surfaces, and offers some stain-blocking properties. However, it may not block stubborn tannins. For tannin blocking, please use our Stain Blocking & Adhesion Primer.
Best used for:
Interior and exterior surfaces including drywall, plaster, wood, masonry, brick, galvanized metal, aluminum, architectural plastics, concrete, stucco, and previously painted surfaces.
